This suburban Rocklin homeowner was struggling with a quintessential California landscaping dilemma: a traditional, thirsty lawn that looked lackluster through the summer heat, accompanied by high water bills. Furthermore, the exterior facade simply didn't match the modern luxury of the home's interior. The overarching goal was to drastically reduce water consumption while creating an enviable, modern-industrial aesthetic that elevated the property's entire street presence.

Our Rocklin Turf Design & Install team proposed a comprehensive master plan rather than a simple product swap. We focused on creating a highly curated landscape where the synthetic turf served as a premium design element. The core concept relied on integrating contrasting textures, pairing the smooth, vibrant look of high-grade synthetic turf with the raw, organic feel of natural boulders, river cobbles, and dark mulch.

To anchor the design, we introduced a striking, custom-carved natural stone column water bubbler. Set within a basin of dark, polished river stones, this recirculating feature offers extreme water efficiency while providing tranquil sounds and a visual counterpoint to the synthetic elements. Surrounding this focal point, we selected a palette of drought-tolerant plants tailored to Rocklin’s climate. A weeping evergreen tree adds year-round architectural interest, a vibrant red-flowering shrub provides bursts of seasonal color, and low-lying accent plants create visual depth.

Our certified Rocklin installation crew managed every phase of the project with precision. The process began with the full excavation of the old, compacted lawn and soil. Next, the team seamlessly converted the outdated high-water spray irrigation system into a precise, low-volume drip system, including a dedicated line for the new water feature.

Following expert base preparation for the turf and hardscape elements, large landscape boulders were strategically placed to create a naturalistic berm.
